Model 2580 Spray Gun
Operation:
Your model 2580 spray gun is a quick and easy to use, and equally important, quick and easy to clean. It will spray a wide variety of materials including gel coats, resins, parting films and it will sand blast with the proper spray tip. Your gun comes with one heavy duty plastic cup which will withstand acetone and keytones and a selection of paper cups. When an inexpensive supply of paper cups is available, most fabricators prefer the time savings an expendable paper cup provides. The Model 2580 is supplied with a Cast Aluminum Lid 2582 (G300-1 0) and a 3/16” (4.8mm) 2591-6 (G300-FN) #6 Nozzle. This is a general purpose nozzle and other sizes may be purchased (see parts diagram below for better results with your particular applications).
- Never put oils or jellies on “O” Ring Seals. This will cause extreme swelling and damage to these specially formulated seals. Acetone will cause slight swelling and will require some “O” Rings to be replaced occasionally.
- Fill Paper Cup 2590 (G300-01132/011EC) which uses the 2582 #4 WR Lid or Plastic Cup 2595 (G300-011 HD) which uses the #3 2583 Lid, with the material to be sprayed. (The disposable 32 oz. Paper Cup makes an ideal liner to the Plastic Cup and reduces clean up time. Also try the 2596 (G200-01) 1-inch Cup Liner.
- Catalyze material to supplier’s specification (a small M.E.K. Dispenser is helpful in this stop).
- Secure cup on to a Cast Lid 2582 (G300-010-2) while cup is upright. Slide fluid nozzle (FN) into air nozzle 2580-4 (G300-004) and attach Pull Ring 2580-13 (G300-01) to the lip in the cup.
- When material is not being sprayed, point cup up or material will drip out of your fluid nozzle.
- Depress Trigger Valve 2580-1 (G200-001) all the way until the “O” Ring 2580-3 (G300-3A) seats and open Flow Control 2580-14 (G200-014) to achieve desired spray volume (about two turns is fully open).
- When finished spraying, release trigger and raise gun to vertical position. Refill by following instructions 2 through 6 again.
AIR REQUIREMENTS: 60 to 100 P.S.I., 5.8 CFM at 80 P.S.I
Suggestions for other applications
- By using a 9/32” (7.1 mm) 2591-9, FN-9 Nozzle, you can sand blast with a light, dry sand.
- Use the 1/4 “ (6.2 mm) 2591-8, FN-8 Nozzle for spray-granite cultured marble.
- With a 7/32” (5.5mm) 2591-1, FN-1 or 1/16” (1.6mm) 2591-2, FN-2 can be used to spray light viscosity materials such as parting film. By srpaying a light coat of wax over your hand buffed mold, it will increase the number of parts between hand waxing of your mold.
